THIS.
Ugh.
Let’s just go ahead and do that again: UGH!
As one of my various resolutions was to give up soda for a calendar month, you can imagine my delight at waking up yesterday, Saturday, February 25th, and having not had even a single sip of soda in the month of February (and, to my credit, a couple weeks earlier too!).
So, what’s the problem? I’ll tell you! Yesterday was law school prom a.k.a. Barrister’s Ball. After bee-lining to the bar with my friends, I ordered a rum and diet coke because it’s delicious. But, ahhhhhh! I didn’t even think of it! So, long story short, by pure accident I have failed. FAILED. For February anyways. Ugh. I was planning on mostly giving up soda in general, but now that I cannot have it at all for another month.
Annoying.
On a completely unrelated note: I’m watching the Oscars. Meryl Streep can do no wrong. Don’t lie to yourself about that one. I should be writing my working draft for my will-eventually-be 35 page paper, but I’m not. I need to get it done by Thursday night. Good try, education.
…until vacation!
I’m trying to make a packing list. It’s oddly small. Oh boy.
What’s something you always wish you had brought on vacation that I should add to my list?
Once upon a time two posts ago, I wrote you lovely little creatures about my resolutions. By far my happiest is that I had FINALLY fixed my bed! You see, it sits on slats and the slats pulled off from the track and now it likes to collapse in on itself if I move around on the bed (I sleep very still, so it’s usually as I am trying to fall asleep or trying not to wake up). I finally resolved (really! haha) to fix it, and I DID!
Imagine my surprise when I heard a little creek this morning as a rolled over to turn off my alarm. Imagine my horror when my bed collapsed again! AHHHH!!!
Seriously, not cool. NOT COOL!
In an effort to forget my sorrows about my once completed, now undone and failed “fix bed” resolution I ate the collection of cookies I had saved from last night (a friend came over to bake some and I sent all but approximately five home with her. I love baking, but I WILL eat every morsel, so I get that junk OUT of my apartment STAT nowadays). Good thing I didn’t also have a resolution to make better meal choices or anything… oh wait…
On that note, I’m going to go ahead and get to the gym since my stomach is not exactly what you’d call flat and I leave for vacation in 19 days… Oops.
I need a new swimsuit too, and because of the not-so-flat stomach trouble I’m going between just rockin’ a bikini anyways or wearing a low-backed one piece…
Thoughts?
WHERE THE GIRL SCOUTS AT? I NEED SOME THIN MINTS STAT!
Ha, that rhymed. On accident. I’m so subconsciously clever. :)
But really, when do girl scouts start selling drugs cookies?
In case you’re wondering, the goods gettin’ hot on the 20th of February. I looked it up in class because I’m such a devoted law student…
Yo! One month in and here we gooooooooooo!
At the end of December I wrote myself a listy list of all of the resolutions I have for this year (let’s be honest, though, it’s a fluid list).
Here they are:
- Go to at least one new restaurant per week (A friend of mine and I are doing this together. January was a great success! We meant to go to a place called Heidi’s, but it was closed for the night so we walked down the street to an old coffeehouse that is now a full restaurant and bar! FABULOUS food, and a bill of… $18! For a three course meal (1st and 3rd split) and alcohol!)! Holy cow! At work my coworkers made me a list of their favorite restaurants in the area, so we’ve got LOTS of options upcoming. It’s a bit tricky because Kirsten is a vegetarian ans has been lots of places, but it’ll be good!)
- fix bed (DONE! I had a very productive Saturday)
- make healthier eating choices (Says the girl eating chips and salsa… but I worked out enough to keep the calorie count within my 1,200/day limit.)
- Get into a workout routine(I actually kind of am! You know, a bit. On Fridays a few guys from work and I go play racquetball, and on Wednesday one of them and I are going to start playing before our night class. Also, I’ve been going when I can. I bought another pair of workout pants today, so now I have no excuse!)
- Buy the perfect going-out outfit (I’m thinking of waiting on this one until either a) I go to Florida where there are things people in Minnesota cannot get in Minnesota specifically in a store on the Circle or b) the end of the year when I hope to be a few orders of french fries thinner)
- Go an entire calendar month without drinking pop (AHHH! So, I love diet soda. Seriously. Love it. HOWEVER, I don’t like only having morning energy if I’ve had caffeine and it’s really rather expensive over time between buying cans and liters for work and home as well as buying glasses when going out! A few weeks ago I ran out and just never bought more, but since I need a calendar year I’ve decided February is the month! Five days in, I really want some soda! Bleh!)
- Revamp something (I reallllyyy want to get one of those long, tall, shallow tables for my entryway from a thrift store, sand it down, re-stain it, and maybe put on new fixtures (If there is a drawer like I want))
- Create something(I’m thinking about making some fabric wall art that looks like canvas. I’ve got directions, so maybe)
- Build something (I’ve got a number of ideas! I just never seem to have to time or money. I’ll keep my ideas to myself for now)
- Spend a day being a tourist in my own area (Awesome! There are so many neat things in Minneapolis/St. Paul that I so often overlook)
- Be more positive (This was actually Kirsten’s resolution, but I’ve adopted it. I have gotten a bit more negative as of late, and that is no good! Positive people have happier lives (I’ll bet))
- Go on a grand adventure(I’m going to Harry Potter World next month! I don’t know if that counts, but I’m going to take it!)
- Go on vacation with a friend (Refer to above. I’m going to FL with Kirsten to see my parents (she’s leaving part-way through), but I really meant just me and a friend or a few friends)
- Try something out of my comfort zone(I’ve got no ideas here. I guess I’ll know it when I see it)
- Play a round of golf (Love golf, but have never gone. Going to play with my dad in Florida!)
- Sew a fabulous piece of clothing (Probably a sundress or neat skirt, but who knows)
- Make my own cookbook (Started on it for a project my bestie, Casey, was doing for work, but I never finished. It won’t be anything to write home about, but it will be filled with recipes that I created, and that’s something!)
- Do a cleanse of some kind (I’d love to do a juice cleanse, but I need a juicer so I can put in things besides those that are filled with straight juice)
- Send a care package to a soldier(I love care package when I’m away from the people I love, so I don’t know why a far-away soldierwouldn’t)
So there you have it kids! I’m going to be accountable to all of you! I feel like the more you tell people about a goal the more likely you are to stay accountable to it because you don’t want to tell anyone you didn’t have the gall to stick it out!
Anyways, I’m going to go do lots and lots of tax and professional responsibility homework. Now it’s your turn…
What are your resolutions this year?
Is where I will be soon because I just bought tickets to… wait for it…
A MURDER MYSTERY DINNER! Oh man, I cannot express to you how excited I am about this! EEP! I’ve wanted to attend a murder mystery dinner for YEARS! I’ve got a friend who also likes to do random fun things, so PERFECT! I’m excited to dress the part! So much SASS!
Have you ever been to a murder mystery dinner? How was it?!
I’m going insane without a piano. I just want one so, so bad in my apartment. I don’t want to have to go home to play. I don’t like having to play only in front of people. I am seriously getting terrible. There are actually quite a few great ones on craigslist for free (fo’ FREEEEEEEE), but I don’t have a way to transport it. I want to be picky and go to see a bunch, so I can pick the best, but I don’t want to have to waste someone’s time that is already letting me borrow a truck. UGH!
How much does it cost to hire a mover?!
It’s Sunday. It’s a Sunday within a month of finals. You know what that means, don’t you? I have procrastinated a paper that is due tomorrow and that I don’t have enough time to finish. Oh welllllll, going to make it happen!
The cutest display of… cuteness…
